Why Zach Wilson will succeed on Day 1 for the Jets
With a new coaching staff, including offensive coordinator Mike LaFleur, the Jets are hoping Wilson can make an impact early on. After all, there’s a reason they took on the talented former BYU No.2 in the 2021 NFL Draft.
If the reports of the Jets’ off-season activities are any indication, Wilson should be more than up to the task.
“Wilson looks so comfortable in Mike LaFleur’s offense. He is precise, aggressive and regularly in control. There were hiccups, of course, but Wilson never looked like a misplaced rookie, ” Connor Hughes of The Athletic noted recently.
The comparison here was with Darnold’s first offseason as a Jets quarterback after making him the No.3 pick in the 2018 NFL Draft.
“There is a big difference between what he does and what Darnold did in his first few seasons,” Hughes wrote.
It’s apparently something eye-opening there, and it could lead to a solid first season in the NFL for Zach Wilson after dominating lesser competition with BYU in 2020.
