Search for boy in Thames three kilometers from where woman’s body was found | UK News
Emergency services searched the Thames on Monday for a teenager who was seen struggling in the water, hours after a woman’s body was recovered from the river just two miles away .
Thames Valley Police said on Twitter that officers were on the river between Bourne End, Buckinghamshire and Cookham, Berkshire on Monday following a report of a welfare fear incident.
The force received a report at 3 p.m. that a teenager entered the water, struggled and was not seen leaving the water, prompting police and firefighters to search . Officers said there would be a police presence in the area during the search.
Officers were called to Boulters Lock on the Thames in Maidenhead, Berkshire, earlier Monday, after a report of the body of a woman in the river at 7.15am.
Thames Valley Police said the death was considered unexplained and formal identification had yet to take place as officers scrambled to establish the circumstances and identify a close relative.
Boulters Lock and Cookham Lock are both closed and police are asking members of the public to avoid the area.
In Hampshire, a two-year-old boy was in critical condition in hospital after being removed from Lake Swanwick, a nature reserve near Fareham, on Sunday.
Hampshire Police have arrested an 18-year-old Southampton man, who officers say is known to the boy, in connection with the incident.
