Quinnen Williams is expected to be out eight to ten weeks after breaking a small bone in his foot that will likely require surgery from the Jets defensive lineman.

According to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network and Mike Garafolo, Williams will likely miss OTAs and minicamp, but on the current timeline he should be ready to go by training camp, which begins July 28.

Williams was caught with the third pick by the Jets in the 2019 Draft, and in two seasons he’s already proven to be a natural disruptor and playmaker in defense. Last season, the defensive tackle collected seven sacks in 13 games and established himself as one of the foundational pieces of an otherwise disappointing defense.

New head coach Robert Saleh, who was the 49ers’ defensive coordinator before traveling to New York, recently spoke of his excitement about working with the 23-year-old this coming season.

“I love Quinnen,” Said Saleh. “Really excited to take the seat belt off his harness and let him go. In this diagram, to make him go upright, to move all that mass in the direction he needs to go, I’m really excited by the potential. he’s going to have. “
