Former Vice President Mike Pence seeks to combine traditional conservatism with former President Donald Trump’s Make America Great Again agenda by launching a new political advocacy group.

This, combined with a new book offer, has left some wondering if Pence is positioning himself for a 2024 presidential candidacy.

Pence On Group Mission: ‘The Conservatives will not stand idly by’

Either way, Trump approves.

According to Washington Examiner Pence’s new group will be called “Advancing American Freedom” and operate as a 501 (c) (4) nonprofit with a mission to defend the Trump-Pence record while maintaining the Republican coalition that put Trump at the White House.

Pence and others want this coalition to have more victories in the future.

Based in Washington, DC, the new organization will build a platform of what it sees as the “three pillars” of American principles: strength and security, prosperity and freedom.

Pence told the Examiner in a statement, “Advancing American Freedom plans to build on the success of the past four years by promoting traditional conservative values and promoting the successful policies of the Trump administration.”

“The Conservatives will not stand idly by as the radical left and the new administration attempt to threaten America’s position as the world’s greatest nation with their destructive policies,” the former vice president added.

Trump blesses Pence’s new organization

According to the Examiner, the Advancing American Freedom advisory board will include senior Trump administration alumni, including former senior adviser to President Kellyanne Conway and former National Economic Council director Larry Kudlow.

“Other members of the advisory board include Trump’s director of the Office of Management and Budget Russ Vought, former Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker and former Ambassador to Israel David Friedman. Chip Saltsman, Marc Short and Marty Obst will be co-chairs, ”the reviewer reported.

The group’s executive director is said to be Paul Teller, Vice President Pence’s former director of strategic initiatives.

Teller was a key figure for conservatives, serving as chief of staff to the Republican Study Committee at the start of the Tea Party revolution. The Committee, or RSC, is a caucus of conservatives in the House of Representatives.

Again, this effort has Trump’s backing. The former president told the Examiner his tenure was “the most successful first term in American history.”

“Glad to see Mike highlight some of our many accomplishments,” Trump added in a statement to the Examiner.

But what do these moves mean for Pence and his potential political future?

Pence is no stranger to the Conservative movement and its long-standing institutions, including his recent membership in the Heritage Foundation as a distinguished man and Young America Foundation as Presidential Researcher Ronald Reagan.

Does all of this lead to Pence 2024?

Some Pence associates have reportedly said that Pence was in a unique position to be a bridge between the already existing old conservative movement and pro-Trump MAGA voters who might not even identify as conservatives.

An aide told the Examiner: ‘There is no doubt that when the vice president joined the ticket in 2016, there was a whole new voter that Donald Trump brought in focusing on China and trade. , and he won many blue collar votes. in the Midwest. ”

“This organization will focus on the winning policies that were at the center of this merger between traditional conservatism and Trumpism,” the aide added, according to the outlet.

While the announcement of this new group unsurprisingly led to speculation over whether or not Pence has plans for the White House in 2024, aides insisted that the organization’s foundation is primarily a defense against the Biden administration’s attempts to dismantle Trump’s policies.

Pence could have a surge for a 2024 nomination. The 2024 Political Insider poll shows Pence in last place out of six picks.
