Andrew Cuomo, besieged Democratic Governor of New York was charged with sexual harassment by a former assistant.

In a blog post on Wednesday, Cuomo’s former assistant economic development secretary Lindsey Boylan said the governor touched her, tried to kiss her and asked her to play strip poker.

Accuser Boylan claims he was’ reprimanded ‘after trying to speak out’

Boylan laid his accusations on Way, including screenshots of emails and texts.

Cuomo’s former assistant alleges that many of the senior women on the governor’s staff have “normalized” the bad behavior.

Boylan said she tried to “talk” after claiming Cuomo kissed her without consent, but was “berated”.

“After that my fears got worse,” Boylan wrote on Medium. “I came to work nauseous every day.”

“My relationship with her senior team – mostly women – turned hostile after I started speaking on my behalf,” she added. “I was reprimanded and told to stand in line by his key associates, but I couldn’t ignore him anymore.

Then she quit.

Boylan wrote: “On September 26, 2018, I sent out a mass email notifying staff members of my resignation.”

Sexual harassment charge comes amid nursing home scandal

The accusation against Cuomo comes amid an FBI investigation into allegations that the governor’s administration withheld data showing that more elderly people have died in nursing homes than was revealed to the ‘origin, due to Cuomo’s decree that retirement communities accept people who are COVID-19 positive.

This scandal was originally reported by the New York Post.

Following the report, New York state lawmakers are calling for Cuomo’s emergency powers that were used during the COVID-19 pandemic to be removed.

As of March 1, 2020, New York State has recorded more than 13,000 confirmed and presumptive positive coronavirus deaths of nursing home residents.

Following Boylan’s accusations, at least one member of Congress called for his resignation.

Boylan: ‘He used bullying to silence his critics’

Boylan described the level of sexual harassment experienced in the Cuomo administration in his Medium post.

“Governor Andrew Cuomo has created a culture within his administration where sexual harassment and bullying is so prevalent that it is not only tolerated but expected,” she wrote.

“His inappropriate behavior towards women was a statement that he loved you, that you have to do something right,” Boylan added.

“He used intimidation to silence his critics,” she said. “And if you dared to speak up, you would suffer the consequences.”
