Juwan Howard pushes back NBA teams to stay in Michigan
NBA teams have come to call about Juwan Howard, but he refuses this interest.
ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported Thursday that Howard is not even allowing talks about Michigan leaving for the NBA.
Howard has just had a successful season in Michigan. He put the Wolverines in the top five for most of the campaign. They finished first in the Big Ten (amid some controversy), and they were No. 4 in the last AP poll despite losing to the Elite Eight.
The 48-year-old had the opportunity to lead his alma mater and did so admirably last season. Leaving after only two seasons would be disrespectful to the school and he was given the opportunity. It seems Howard recognizes this and wants to continue building on his success.
Howard played in the NBA from 1994 to 2013. He was an assistant for the Miami Heat from 2013 to 2019. Howard is now entering his third season in Michigan.
