Psaki on Taliban: “We must engage with them”
On September 1, Psaki noted that some type of engagement with the Taliban would be needed, but said the US was “in no rush” to recognize the new Islamic emirate of Afghanistan.
The new Taliban Minister of the Interior, Sirajuddin Haqqani, is the son of the founder of the Haqqani network, who is on the list of American terrorists. He has long been one of the FBI’s most wanted.
Doocy asked Psaki on Wednesday: “There are now more FBI wanted terrorists in the new Afghan government than there are women. Does the president think this is a foreign policy success?
Psaki replied, “First of all, nobody in this administration, not [President Joe Biden] or any member of the national security team would suggest that the Taliban are respected and valued members of the global community. “

“Engage with them? Their new acting interior minister is a terrorist from the Haqqani network, ”Doocy replied.
Doocy continued: “He is wanted for a bombing that killed six people, including an American, he allegedly participated in cross-border attacks against American troops, there is a bounty of $ 10 million on his head. “
