The White House withdraws President Biden’s choice nomination for Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) Director David Chipman.

Chipman, who voices pro gun control views, struggled to gain the support of several key Democrats in the Senate, would be given a different role in the administration.

“We don’t have the votes,” a senior administration official said, according to CNN. “We are going to land him in an unconfirmed post in administration.”

The Political Insider reported last July that Chipman had no commitments from some moderate Democrats such as Joe Manchin (D-WV), Jon Tester (D-MT), Kyrsten Sinema (D-AZ) and Independent Angus King (ME).

The report openly questioned whether this lack of support from Democrats could ultimately lead to Chipman’s nomination being withdrawn.

President Biden’s selection of David Chipman had been strongly opposed by Republicans and pro-Second Amendment lawmakers based on sweeping past comments.

Chipman’s sweeping views were fully exposed during a Senate appearance in May, where he struggled to define an “assault weapon” and said he supports a ban on semi-automatic rifles like the AR-15.

“Regarding the AR-15, I support a ban as presented in a Senate bill and supported by the president,” he told Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX ) at the time.

Chipman also argued for a “well-regulated” Second Amendment to challenge the sanctuary of gun owners.

“The Second Amendment sees firearms as ‘well regulated’, and individual sheriffs do not have the right to decide whether a particular regulation is constitutional – that is the job of the courts,” he wrote. .

Chipman even compared some gun owners to the “Tiger King”.

David Chipman’s alleged racial comments

David Chipman’s appointment may have been rejected based on recently revealed racist comments.

A report last month corroborated that Biden’s candidate made controversial comments about black ATF agents who were running for promotion.

“He made a few comments that he was surprised at the number of African Americans who have appeared on a specific promotional list,” said a current ATF official. Recharging.

“So his insinuation was that they must have cheated,” the official added. “Which is a little contemptible.”

According to the report, several complaints have been filed against Chipman.

Additionally, Chipman is said to have made an appearance on Chinese state television. in 2012 and failed to disclose the appearance.

Fox News reported that the appearance of Biden’s candidate “may have been used as propaganda by the Communist state to cover up a mass stabbing of children.”

Republican senators nearly missed the opportunity to derail Chipman’s nomination, allegedly withholding information about the racism accusations secret for months.

House Republicans pushed for a resolution remove Biden’s ATF candidate although he has not been confirmed.

Previously Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) announcement a law that would abolish the ATF completely in part because of Chipman’s appointment.

Greene argued that Biden naming him was “a clear indication that the ATF’s war on gun owners is about to start.”
