Detroit Police Chief James Craig said he had “I love” to see Democratic Representative Rashida Tlaib resign from Congress following remarks she called for abolishing the police because she is “inherently racist”.

“She’s reckless,” Craig told Fox 2 Detroit of Tlaib (D-MN) last weekend. “I would love to see her resign. I would throw a farewell party for him.

“Who is she talking to?” He continued. “When you talk about abolishing the police, about incarceration, when you talk about safe cities – what do you think the people of Detroit want?”

“I know. I talk to them.

Tlaib, who is part of the far-left ‘brigade’ often referred to as the future of the Democratic Party, made his comments following the shooting by police of 20-year-old black man, Daunte Wright , in Minnesota.

Detroit Police Chief: Tlaib should step down, I’ll throw a party for him

Wright, a 20-year-old black man who had a open mandate for her arrest in connection with an aggravated attempted robbery, according to court records, was shot dead by a police officer who claimed she accidentally used her gun but intended to fire a taser.

“It wasn’t an accident. Maintaining order in our country is inherently [and] intentionally racist ”, Tlaib tweeted Last week.

“Daunte Wright was confronted with an assault [and] violence. I am done with those who tolerate government-funded killings, ”she continued. “No more policing, incarceration and militarization. It cannot be reformed.

Even House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has sought to distance herself from the comments, perhaps recalling that screams to dissolve the police decimated the Democratic Party in the 2020 election.

In addition to saying he would throw a party if Rashida Tlaib were to step down, Craig targeted Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) for her irresponsible comments in which she encouraged protesters to “become more confrontational” and “stay in the street. If the jury does not return a guilty verdict in the Derek Chauvin trial.

“I won’t let someone like a Tlaib or a Maxine Waters paint our profession with a wide brush,” Craig said.

He added: “We support free speech, we support social justice, but do we encourage – we make reckless statements like this – to create criminal behavior?”

Craig said if he had made comments like Rashida Tlaib’s, he would have been forced to resign.

“Does she really represent the people or does she represent a marginal group?” He asked. “She does not speak for the Blacks and Maroons of our city.”

Surprisingly, a spokesperson for Tlaib called Craig’s comments “disappointing and unproductive.”

Denzel McCampbell told Fox News:

“At a time when report after report cites the city of Detroit’s prejudicial treatment of Black Lives Matter protesters – and the enormous waste of taxpayer money embarrassingly losing in court after trying to intimidate them, the city’s use of discriminatory facial recognition technology, and the fact that people still don’t feel safe despite spending $ 300 million a year on police – it’s disappointing and unproductive for Chief Craig to run in front of the cameras to call for the resignation of MP Tlaib. You would think that Chief Craig has more important things to do.

The Detroit Police Chief has criticized Tlaib in the past for his comments attempting to create racial divisions between the police and the community.

During a visit to the department’s Real Time Crime Center in 2019, Tlaib told Craig that she believes Detroit police should hire black people exclusively to run their facial recognition software because other races believe they are. “All look alike”.

“The analysts have to be African Americans, not people who are not,” she said. “That’s right, I think non-African Americans think African Americans are all alike!”

Craig, who is himself black, immediately dismissed his analysis, saying, “I trust people who are educated, regardless of race, regardless of gender.”

He suggested that Rashida Tlaib also resign for the comments.

“If I had made the exact same comment, they would have asked for my resignation and she would have led this charge,” the chief added at the time. “It’s a fact.”
