Samsung iFixit kit

☀️ Good morning, readers. Another flagship Android phone enters the market today in the form of the OnePlus 10T. While we wait for that launch, here’s what happened in the tech world while you were napping.

Samsung launches self-repair program in US

Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra iFixit

After Apple and Google, Samsung has finally introduced its own self-repair program for Galaxy phones and tablets in the US. So yes, if for some reason you don’t want to leave your Samsung phone at a repair center, now you can get it repaired right at home. That said, don’t get too excited just yet. The self-repair program offered by Samsung currently supports limited devices. Let’s dive in and tell you more.

  • For this new self-repair program, Samsung has collaborated with the famous repair guide and company iFixit.
  • Initially, the program supports the Galaxy S20 and Galaxy S21 family of smartphones, along with the Galaxy Tab S7 Plus tablet.
  • Owners can purchase self-repair parts and tools to replace the screen, back glass, and charging ports for all of those devices.
  • If you are repairing the phone screen, the kits include the screen, the metal frame of the phone, the case and the battery.
  • However, if your phone’s battery is swollen, Samsung recommends not trying to repair it yourself.
  • With that said, if you want a phone with a removable battery so you don’t need repairs, here are our recommendations.

how it works?

  • Samsung will provide step-by-step guides to help customers through this process.
  • The company also gives customers shipping labels to return broken parts for recycling.
  • This reminds me of an article we wrote about 10 ways to recycle your phone.
  • If you want to repair your Samsung devices mentioned above, you can purchase original device parts and tools available through iFixit, Samsung 837, and Samsung retail and service stores.

How much does it cost?

  • You can buy just replacement parts or a complete repair kit with all the tools needed for the repair.
  • A screen and battery replacement kit for the Galaxy S21 costs $167.99, up from $239.99 for the Galaxy S21 Ultra.
  • Oddly enough, the vanilla Galaxy S20 display and battery kit costs $206 more than the standard Galaxy S21.
  • Other replacement parts, such as charging ports and the back glass, are much cheaper, ranging from $67 to $77 depending on the part and the phone.

On a related note, Samsung has a very interesting new repair mode for its phones in Korea. We hope it will come to other markets as well. This really eliminates the anxiety of data theft when you have to leave your phone at a repair center.

📵 Something happened with the release of smartphones in China. Motorola canceled the launch of the Razr 2022 and X30 Pro on August 2. OnePlus also canned the launch of its Ace Pro (Android Authority).

🔟 Don’t worry. OnePlus 10T is still on time (Android Authority).

Toilet computer

YouTube/basically homeless

  • A basically homeless YouTuber He turned his toilet into a full-fledged gaming computer.
  • He installed premium gaming PC components in his toilet tank to “play hard, sweaty FPS games from your toilet seat.”
  • He even took money for this!
  • However, turning your toilet into a gaming rig seems to take a lot of time and effort.
  • And if you don’t want a toilet seat during the game? We recommend these gaming chairs for your tosh treatment.

Have a wonderful day!
